My Husband!

I appreciate my husband, Brett! He is a gift from God. I don’t know what I would do if he never came into my life. I sure wouldn’t be as happy as I am right now, I couldn’t imagine life with out him. He makes me laugh all the time but he can also make me real mad. But I can’t stay mad at him for very long because I love him so much. When I have a bad day, I could always think of something he has done or even give him a call he can cheer me up. Brett I love you! I am proud of you for everything you have done for me and our family. Keep it up!

Here is something I observed yesterdays sermon:

Something hit yesterday in church while our pastor was preaching something he hit on in Colossians about husband and wives. (The pastors translation is different then mine because his sounded so harsh than the one I have) My translation says: Wives, submit to your own husbands, as it is fitting in the Lord. Because his translation said Wives be subject to your husbands as it is fitting in the Lord. Right after he said that verse he ended it with Amen but everyone stayed silent. Then he went on to proceed to the next verse for the husbands to love their wives and not to be bitter towards them and he ended with an Amen again and everyone repeated him. So why didn’t the congregation say Amen for the wives command but they did for the husbands command? I have a somewhat of idea but not sure. Me to be a subject to my husband seems kind of harsh but when its submit its not that harsh. The wording can confuse people and people can take it wrong. Yes I was one not to answer Amen for it because I feel like I am not my husband’s subject but I am to submit to him. So I thought that was interesting yesterday.

  1. My wife is great. Even though I don’t see a huge difference between “subject yourselves” and “submit yourselves”, she does, and the distinction she makes is important. It’s not a matter of slavery or domination, as she says “subject” implies, it’s a matter of placing yourself under and showing respect to your husband, as “submit” implies to her.

And, no, though she submits to me, she is in no way a weak woman. She is one of the strongest persons I know, and she is in no way shy about vocalizing her opinions.
