First Signs of Stubbornness

Tracy and I went to her doctor’s appointment to day to hear the baby’s heartbeat.  I had the digital voice recorder from work, hoping to have some audio to post up here.

We were listening and just as we heard what sounded like the baby’s heartbeat there was a small “thump”, and the heartbeat was gone.  The doctor, doing her duty, kept trying to track that little bugger down and get the heartbeat.  The last time we faintly heard it disappeared too as the kid moved down and away from the instrument, his heartbeat being replaced by the sound of Tracy’s.

So, let’s get this straight.  The kid isn’t even born yet, but it’s already kicking things that annoy it (anger issues), and then not doing what we want it to do (stubbornness.)

This sounds familiar to another child of ours, Katelyn, who just got a referral from school for tearing a page out of her book.  The last referral was for slapping a boy across the face for no reason.

We’re in for an interesting childhood for this baby.

  1. The truth is most babies will normally do this, I would rather a child with character than without, though either way you as a parent still have a lot of work to do. Mine did exactly the same every time an ultra sound was done, you could never pin him down. The trick is knowing how to help mold them into the young men and women they need to be in adulthood. Happy growth, delivery and parenting.

  2. Yeah, I know. This is our 5th kid, so i’ve seen this a few times. My daughter Katelyn was like this, only more stubborn (4 ultrasounds and we couldn’t ever find out what sex she was.)
And as far as character, i’m sure this child will have lots of it.
